As some of you may remember, I worked with a few friends to put together a magazine (AVENEU) last year. It was soooo much fun and, even though we only put out one issue, it was definitely one of my best experiences of 2010. [I should probably share some of my photos from issue one. However, I am having a lazy spurt and don’t want to search for them on my hard drive. Another day, maybe. ;)] The first issue was very well-received but when our graphic designer and main brain behind everything AVENEU moved away, we knew it would be too hard to continue making issues in the same way. So, we stopped but not until after we had shot the majority of photo media for the second issue.

I dreamed up, arranged, art directed, and shot two pieces for the second issue. The first was meant to be surrounded by nature and Spring (the shoot took place in April). I wanted each girl to have headpieces that would become part of their hair for the shoot. They would wear light, airy outfits giving off the free-spirited feel of the warmer weather rolling in. I bought the supplies for the headpieces and had the models bring some clothing items from their own wardrobes. I figured that bringing their own clothes would make sure there was more of a chance the girls would find something that would fit right and be more comfortable.

My talented friend, Paris, helped with makeup and most of the girls’ hair. I managed to get one hairpiece done in the time she did the other 3! haha The girls were great sports. Getting ready took almost twice as long as the actual shoot!

Recently, Will and I made a trip to visit our dear friends and Mackenzie, the former AVENEU brainchild who now works for another fantastic Nashville magazine. Upon discussing the old photos we took, we decided that there really wouldn’t be any reason to not post the photos, seeing as there will never be another issue made.

The photos sat in a folder on my laptop from April until, well, yesterday. haha I reopened them, re-edited them (the edits were horrible! haha), and sent them off to the wonderful models.

So, all that is left to do is share them with you. :)

I will be back sometime soon with more photos. I recently started going through my hard drive to erase files I don’t need. In doing so, I have found tons of photos to edit and eventually share. Until then, enjoy your weekend. Happy February a few days late! :)

love, erin

Here are some things that happened this week:

Picnics in the park with new-ish friends and documenting it. We took photos of each other taking photos of each other. It’s how memories are made.

Road trips to Joplin for a family celebration. Dancing in the car to good music. Yes, I car dance.

New inside jokes with the sisters. :)))

I made some of the cutest headbands I have ever crafted. :)

I marked everything down in the shop except some photo prints and art. Go check it out! I want to get rid of everything in it to start adding new items!

More photo shoots for AVENEU. LOTS of shooting opportunities for me. :-D

New haaaaaaaaaaaair!

I took photos of my friend Paris and her brother for a Mothers’ Day gift for their mom.

Little Sophia was incredibly fun to photograph and make headbands for! I made five for her as a gift to her mommy. :)

Well, that is all the photos I have for this week. I am surprised I have any with as busy as this last week has been!

This was my last week working in the local RVA shop so I will be on the hunt for other means of making money this next week. Wish me luck and/or pray for me because I have a feeling this next month will be another really hard one. However, we will press on, like we always do, and keep in mind how wonderful God has been to us. :)

I am looking forward to being able to try to accomplish some of the items on my list as well over the next few days. What does your week have in store for you?

Hey there! Here is a few highlights from my last two weeks in photos:

Crazy weather!

Will helped me fix the bracelet my sister gave me in remembrance of my nephew’s condition.

A wonderful friend gave us a table that fits perfectly in our little kitchen corner!

Breakfast with my sisters!

Everything is blooming outside!

I’ve become a little obsessed with making these! Thanks for introducing me to these, Elsie!

Will and I planted some things in thrifted vintage jars. It was the start of a tradition (and one item I can mark off my list!).

Prepping for and accomplishing everything for AVENEU mag’s shoot week for Issue 2!

I found this photo in my parent’s wedding album. Priceless! I want to recreate this photo on my wedding day. Oh, Mom… I miss you so much!

So, I hope you enjoyed these photos. I had a great couple of weeks. I am hoping that this next week will be just as great, if not better. :-D

I hope this week will include lots of:

Reunions with some of my favorites that I miss very much!

Lots of fun new styles and shoots!

A friend asked me to try making a bouquet like this one. I don’t know where she found this photo, but it is amazing. We’ll see if I can make something similar for her. :)

*UPDATE – The lovely Corinne informed me that this bouquet is one from Princess Lasertron. :)

LOTS more hang out time and meetings with these wonderful folks.

What will your week include?

So, I wanted to check in really quick. I have been super busy with preparations for AVENEU magazine‘s shoot week for our second issue! Tomorrow (technically today) is my biggest shoot I have ever done. I am so excited!!

I have a lot of work to do tomorrow, but I am hoping to spend some time here after everything is finished. I will also email any of you who have written me. :)

Thanks so much for those who have written wanting to participate in the photo prompts. Thanks, also, to those who gave their input on the playlist pal idea. I will give out details soon!

I love you all so so much and thank you for your support. Sometimes I get really discouraged about having made the decision to pursue photography. However, it is your comments and emails that get me from those moments to ones like this one, where I stare at all I have gathered in preparation for a shoot and think about how much it is worth it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :)

I am off to sleep for a couple of hours. I hope you have a marvelous Wednesday and that you find yourselves smiling!

This didn’t even begin to show you all of the excitement this week. I loved it and I can’t wait to get started on some of the amazing projects I have been offered to work on for people. Yikes, I am so ecstatic right now. :)

What was your week like?

P.S. I promise to get to your comments soon. I read them all, even if I can’t comment right away. I love you all! :)
